India Pursues Opportunities With Cuba
At least five Indian companies are interested in the investment projects that were presented, said Fidel Miranda, director of the Cu-ban state-owned Chemical Industry Business Group. According to the official, the sector he manages is looking for machinery to improve efficiency and lower productive costs.
Pavel Pizart, director-general of Cuba’s Labiofam Injectable Products Co., also met with several Indian companies that might potentially become suppliers of the new equipment necessary to modernize production lines.
Meanwhile, Odilio Aguero, an official of the city of Havana’s historian’s office, expressed interest in potential suppliers of construction equipment and goods.
The three Cuban delegates attended the 4th India-Latin America and the Caribbean Conclave, which was sponsored by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in session for two days at a New Delhi hotel.
Bilateral trade between India and the Latin America/Caribbean region reached $16 billion in the years 2008 and 2009, in which nearly $6 billion correspond to exports to India and the rest to imports, according to CII data.
